— Revenge of the Lawn, Richard Brautigan (via theseliteraryquotes)
I once knew a young man who wanted to write.
The thing is though, he shared a name with a writer who was already famous. And because of that, I made it a point to never read any of the famous guy’s books. Out of loyalty or something. I was certain my Young Man could do a better job, and when the time came I would say “You see? I’ve been waiting to read this,” and he would say, “I know. It’s for you.”
I’m so much older now, and when the time does come, it won’t be for me. It will be for Someone Else. But I still will never read anything the famous guy has written. I just wanted you to know.
